Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 22, 2026
ScreenMask is built with privacy as the core principle.
1. No Data Collection: We do not collect, transmit, or store any of the content displayed on your screen. Your data stays yours.
2. Local Processing: All pattern matching, text redaction, and DOM manipulation happens completely locally within your browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave, Opera). We do not use external APIs or cloud servers for the detection engine.
3. Extension Permissions:
- storage: Required to save your settings, active patterns, blur preferences, and Pro license key locally in your browser. On Chrome and Edge, this data syncs across your devices via your account.
- host_permissions (<all_urls>): Required so our content script can run on any webpage you visit and apply visual redactions automatically.
4. License Verification: When you enter a Pro license key, the extension makes a single API call to getscreenmask.com/api/verify-license to validate the key. Only the license key string is sent — no browsing data, no page content, no personal information.
5. Analytics: We only track anonymous extension usage (installs/uninstalls) via browser store metrics. We never read or track the content of the pages you visit.
6. Third-Party Services: Payments are processed by LemonSqueezy (our payment provider). Their privacy policy applies to payment transactions. We do not store your payment details.
7. Changes to Policy: If we make significant changes to how we handle data, we will notify users through the extension update mechanism.
